The Cafritz name has been synonymous with real estate development in Washington, DC since 1919, when Morris Cafritz first began developing residential properties in the region. Today, that legacy continues with Morris’ son, Conrad Cafritz, who himself has more than 40 years of experience in real estate development and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1975, Cafritz Interests seeks to create value in all stages of the real estate investment, development, and management disciplines through our in-depth understanding of core markets and product types. Each Cafritz Interests project reflects the family’s and company’s hallmarks of targeted design, quality construction, and superior market timing.
Cafritz Interests projects span the United States, with a vast portfolio in the greater metro Washington, DC region but also with commercial, retail, hotel, residential, healthcare, and industrial projects in Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax County, VA; Chicago, IL; and syndicated properties throughout the United States. In addition to acquisitions and development, Cafritz also provides comprehensive property management services.
Cafritz Interests current investment activities are focused primarily within its two principal subsidiary entities – Modus Hotels and Novus Residences. Modus Hotels, formerly Potomac Hospitality Services, has been a premier owner and operator of hotels and lodging facilities since 1976. Modus Hotels is pioneering micro-hotels in downtown Washington DC. Novus Residences was formed in 2011 through a partnership between Conrad Cafritz and Robert Seldin as a development company focusing on providing high-quality, high-value multifamily communities in the greater Washington, DC area and the new paradigm, e-Lofts Properties, initially in the DC area.
